Wanted. CFL coaches. Several openings available. Send your resume to Scott Milanovich c/o Toronto Argonauts. Experience preferred. That may sound a bit extreme, but the Toronto Argonauts coaching staff has been decimated in the off-season. Former defensive coordinator Chris Jones is the new head coach in Edmonton, while former special teams coordinator Mike OShea was named as the Blue Bombers head coach in early December. The main difference between the two? Jones didnt leave on his own. On Tuesday, it was announced that Jones was bringing four members of last years Argo staff with him to Edmonton. Steve McAdoo was Torontos o-line coach for the past four seasons and becomes Edmontons new offensive coordinator. Ed Philions first year coaching in the CFL was last year with the Argos defensive line, the same group hell coach with the Eskies. Two young assistant coaches, Jason Shivers and Craig Davoren leave Ontario to become defensive backs coach and offensive assistant coach respectively. Scott Milanovich replaced Jones with former Winnipeg head coach Tim Burke, but now has a lot of vacancies on the staff. Was he surprised at all with the number of defections? "Not at all," Milanovich told TSN.ca. "I knew a week after the season who was going." The coach says that at some point after the season Eskies GM Ed Hervey called Jim Barker, his Toronto counterpart, and asked for permission. Its an expected part of life on the coaching carousel. "All of the contracts would have been up at the end of the month. I spoke with Chris (Jones) about it. I told him who was and wasnt available. There were no surprises." Perhaps the least shocking move is that McAdoo is heading west. He and Jones coached for three seasons together at Tennessee Tech, four years together with the Montreal Alouettes and the last two campaigns together in Toronto. When Jones left, Burke was hired almost immediately to replace him. It was an easy fit. They had coached together in Montreal, Burke had a ton of experience and had great success as a DC in the league. The OShea replacement hasnt been as easy. "I think (special teams coordinator) is a very difficult position to fill in the CFL" Milanovich explained to TSN.ca "It doesnt get the respect it deserves. I dont think you can go and get an NCAA D-1 or NFL coach and get a successful transition in one year. The return game, the halo, the number of snaps you take on special teams makes it more of a position that needs CFL or CIS experience." The search continues and Milanovich says the club has focsed on several candidates. "I have spoken to maybe four or five" continued the coach. "Ive dug around and asked about six or seven others and have asked other guys for their opinions." Historically the CIS has been snubbed as a breeding ground for CFL coaches, though Mike OShea named long-time Queens DC Pat Tracey as the Bombers special teams coach. Would Milanovich have a problem going that route? "Not for the right guy." Milanovich hopes to have that guy, and the rest of his new staff assembled in the next two to three weeks. He hopes to announce the entire staff at the same time. Stitched China Jerseys .ca has you covered for whos in, whos out and what to expect from all 30 teams. CALGARY -- The Calgary Stampeders beat the Toronto Argonauts 40-33 with a tremendous second half Saturday, but another starting quarterback in the CFL is injured. Trailing by 19 points at halftime, Calgary rallied with four touchdowns and a pair of two-point converts to remain atop both the CFL and West Division standings at 10-1. Stampeder quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell threw for 198 yards and a pair of touchdowns, but he went down awkwardly on his left leg in the fourth quarter when he was tackled on a four-yard run. Mitchell left the game with just over six minutes remaining and there was no immediate word on his status following the game. Down eight points when Mitchell went out, backup Drew Tate finished the drive and tied the game with a 15-yard touchdown throw to Jabari Arthur and a two-point convert toss to running back Jon Cornish at 9:53. Cornish scored the winning touchdown and his second of the game on a 30-yard catch-and-run at 13:12. On their final drive, Toronto turned the ball over on a fumble by quarterback Ricky Ray with nine seconds left. "Its victories like this that really show you how good you can be," Cornish said. "This is a win, but if we can do things like this in playoffs, thats what really matters. This was a key learning experience for us." Mitchell threw touchdown passes to Sederrik Cunningham and Brad Sinopoli before he was injured. Saskatchewan Roughriders quarterback Darian Durant is expected to miss the rest of the regular season because of an elbow injury suffered last week. Travis Lulay of the B.C. Lions went on the six-game injured list last week with a dislocated shoulder. Calgarys Matt Walter scored a two-point convert on a two-yard dash. Stampeder kicker Rene Paredes kicked a 28-yard field goal and Toronto kicker Swayze Waters was good on a 36-yard attempt in front of an announced 28,607 at McMahon Stadium. Ray made touchdown throws to Spencer Watt, Jason Barnes, Trent Guy and Andre Durie. Ray totalled over 300 ppassing yards in a game for the first time since July 5.dddddddddddd The Argos lost momentum, however, because of 128 yards in penalties and three turnovers. "Thats what weve been fighting with all year, penalties and turnovers," Ray said. "Those were our biggest mistakes tonight again. Its hard to beat anybody in this league when youre doing that let alone the best team in the league. "Until we get those two areas cleaned up its going to be like this, a fight to win football games." The Argos dropped to 3-8, but remained tied for the East Division lead with the Montreal Alouettes, who lost to Edmonton on Friday. Cornish rushed for 174 yards in the game, including a 79-yard scoring rumble in the third quarter. The CFLs Most Outstanding Player in 2013 missed six games in July and August with concussion symptoms. Cornish has rushed for a total of 694 yards in four games since his return. "Jon Cornish is a force," said Stampeders head coach John Hufnagel. "We know that. We want to get him the ball and he did some damage out there." The victory was costly for Calgary because not only Mitchell was unable to finish the game. Defensive end Ben DAguilar and receiver Marquay McDaniel went out in the first quarter. The defensive line was further decimated when end Charleston Hughes and tackle Demonte Bolden left the game in the second half. "Not quite sure," Hufnagel said when asked of their status. "All those guys are getting MRIs and well find out tomorrow." Argos receiver Chad Owens, the CFLs MOP two years ago, didnt play in Calgary because of a leg injury. Hes expected back in the lineup Friday against the B.C. Lions in Vancouver. Durie played Saturday after missing eight games with a broken collarbone. The Stampeders have won nine in a row versus East Division clubs and face the Alouettes in Montreal next Sunday. The Argos will practise in Calgary until Thursday when they depart for Vancouver. ' ' '
